DevSecOps Engineer - Journeyman

Primary Location: Quantico, VA

Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance


Job Summary

We are seeking a DevSecOps Engineer – Journeyman to support the secure and automated delivery of software and infrastructure for GCSS-MC. This role focuses on building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, integrating security into the development lifecycle, and supporting validation testing and configuration management. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with DevSecOps tools, scripting, and secure system delivery in both on-prem and cloud environments. The position requires supporting secure, automated delivery pipelines and sustainment of mission-critical systems while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity frameworks.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain stable and efficient infrastructure to optimize service delivery across production, QA, and development environments
  • Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines and supporting tools; manage code repositories, versioning, and code migrations
  • Implement automated infrastructure capabilities such as backups, monitoring, and security tools
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve build, packaging, and deployment processes
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure, compliant, and high-quality software delivery
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and support validation testing and configuration management activities
  • Integrate security tools (e.g., Fortify, SonarQube, ACAS) into CI/CD pipelines
  • Support Agile Hardware and Software Changes, Service Operations, systems Engineering, and New Capability/Functionality
  • Support validation testing (SIT, GAT) and maintain test environments
  • Ensure compliance with RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • 4+ years of experience in DevSecOps, infrastructure automation, or secure software delivery
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems
  • Experience with deployment and configuration management tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Puppet, or Ansible
  • Proficiency with version control systems like Git, Bitbucket, SVN, or CVS
  • Hands-on experience with network infrastructure, databases, cloud and data center operations, and security protocols
  • Familiarity with AWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), or other cloud platforms
  • Proficient in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Perl, Bash, PHP, Java, SQL, or C++
  • Experience supporting secure deployments in DoD or enterprise environments
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools and scripting languages

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with the Department of Defense or in a secure federal environment
  • Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks
  • Experience integrating security tools (e.g., Fortify, SonarQube, ACAS) into CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of Agile/SAFe methodologies and participation in sprint planning and backlog grooming
  • Experience supporting validation testing (SIT, GAT) and maintaining test environments
  • Exposure to DevSecOps in hybrid cloud environments and containerized deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with OCI, AWS, or hybrid cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with integrating security into DevOps workflows

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Secure office environment at Quantico, VA with no remote work capability
  • Ability to work extended hours during system deployments and maintenance windows
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on infrastructure automation and pipeline development
  • Must be able to work in a classified environment and handle sensitive system configurations
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, cloud migrations, or system integrations

Travel

  • Minimal travel required for training, vendor conferences, cloud platform certifications, or system integration activities
