Job Summary
The Financial Specialist supports the fiscal operations of the Institute by processing accounting transactions, enforcing financial policies, and maintaining accurate financial documentation across multiple funding sources. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of University of Kentucky systems (e.g., PRD, SRM, Concur, JV, SAP, Tableau) and state and federal regulations to ensure all financial transactions are accurate, timely, and compliant. The Financial Specialist serves as a key resource to staff by providing guidance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with the Financial Specialist Lead to resolve complex matters.
In addition to daily transaction processing, this role generates financial reports, monitors transaction accuracy, and participates in reconciliation and continuous improvement activities. The Financial Specialist also contributes to process optimization efforts and educates staff on University policies and procedures, supporting the overall financial integrity and operational efficiency of the Institute. This role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
