Position Summary: 

We are looking for a Lead Software Test Engineer to join our team. In this key role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, providing strategic, long-term solutions to complex technical challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including engineers and leaders across teams, to establish and promote best practices in software testing and quality assurance. 

 

As a Lead Software Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality, planned work and ensuring the reliability and smooth operation of the solutions developed. This position requires a balance of hands-on technical contributions and team leadership, with a strong emphasis on mentoring peers and driving high team performance. 

 

Key Areas of Responsibilities: 

As a member of the Enterprise Systems team, you will be a member of  
a technology team that successfully delivers and supports software solutions supporting improved Customer and Employee experience in an agile DevOps environment. The Lead Quality Engineer be responsible for creating, maintaining, and executing world-class testing services focused on SPS enterprise application such as Oracle Fusion, Workday, and Salesforce.  This includes Test Strategy and Plans, Test Scenarios and  
Scripts, Test Execution, and Test Automation.  This role is a combination of thought leader and test engineer – you will help develop the solutions you propose, remaining connected to the team and playing a key role in the design, development, implementation, enhancement, and adoption of impactful business solutions. 

 

  • Leadership:Oversee all testing activities and manage the QA activities for projects and applications assigned
  • Develop Test Strategies:Create and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders:Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define test requirements and identify potential risks
  • Design and Execute Tests:Develop, execute, and maintain both manual and automated test cases
  • Defect Management:Ensure timely identification, documentation, and resolution of defects
  • Reporting:Monitor and report on test progress, coverage, and results
  • Continuous Improvement:Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies
  • Compliance:Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices
  • Release Planning:Participate in release planning and risk assessment meetings

  • Proficient software quality professional with excellent problem-solving skills who demonstrates curiosity and courage – has an interest in learning and understanding “whys” 
  • Able to Influence – Fluent and current on software testing best practices – leads workshop sessions to educate stakeholders on practices and coach where needed in creating a holistic set of tests
  • Collaborative – enabling effective partnerships with internal and external teams
  • Effective communicator and storyteller that communicates testing concepts to business stakeholders in a way that explains how the solution solves the business challenge
  • Self-motivated and driven – strives to deliver great results and drive continuous improvement, gets things done, while bringing people along for the change

Fully Remote, USA.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 2 years in a lead role
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at a time with both speed and quality
  • Exemplary documentation skills of a technical nature
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, JUnit, or TestNG
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.0
  • Experience with bug tracking tools like JIRA
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Certifications:ISTQB, CSTE, or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience with SaaS platforms like Oracle Fusion, Salesforce, and Workday
  • This position may require travel to other SPS Commerce locations

 

 

What We Offer: 

At SPS Commerce, we are committed to ensuring that each employee's compensation reflects their unique experiences, performance, and skills in their role. The salary range for this role considers several factors, including education, relevant skills, work history, certifications, location, and more. 

 

The annual salary range for this role is: $113,000 to $181,000. The actual salary offered will be determined based on the factors listed above and may fall anywhere within the range. 

 

Additionally, you may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. An incentive award, if granted, is based on individual and/or organizational performance.
