We are seeking a Rapid Prototyping Electronics Technician to join our team supporting Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

NOTE: This is not a remote/telework job. This job requires the selected applicant to have an active U.S. Government-issued security clearance at time of hire and, therefore, requires U.S. citizenship.

Kegman is seeking a skilled Rapid Prototyping Electronics Technician to support our government customer on Florida’s Space Coast. As a Rapid Prototyping Electronics Technician, you will have practical experience in the robotics, small unmanned aerial vehicles, or maritime/littoral sectors. The technician will provide on-site system-level development and test support at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), Florida.  The technician works as a team member providing support for in-house rapid prototyping technology development initiatives that integrate commercial-off-the-shelf sensor components into aerial/terrestrial/maritime/littoral operational platforms. The technician is responsible for planning and organizing work to ensure timely completion of multiple independent tasks and is expected to approach problem solving with logical, yet creative, ideas. Some duties may require working from within the water (ocean/river at the surface). This job does NOT require diver certification.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers to plan, order components, and build and test electronic payloads on maritime/littoral/terrestrial/aerial platforms.
  • Fabricate, assemble, test, configure, set-up and install a variety of instruments including data collection platforms, and power components and/or support components.
  • Analyze functions of existing integrated circuits and hardware components.
  • Repair and maintain various types of production machines, including trouble shooting of variable frequency drives, solenoids and contactors.
  • Install, maintain, and repair sensors and equipment to include related infrastructure.
  • Build and test electronic and RF cabling, perform fault testing on antenna systems, build and test Cat 5 and 6 cables and repair damaged fiber optic cables.
  • Investigate and resolve problems in design, engineering, fabrication, system operations and installation procedures.
  • Prepare and review documentation, test results, and reports of various field work, data, drawings, schematics, and other sources.
  • Analyze and interpret technical data collected to detect problems and take corrective action.
  • Complete reports and prepare documentation associated with work accomplished.
  • Operate shop cars, trucks (including those that require a Class B license), truck/trailer combinations, forklifts up to 10,000 lbs. and off- road vehicles.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field of study with three years of experience, or high school diploma/equivalent with five years of experience.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to coordinate and communicate with executives, external partners, and project stakeholders.
  • Electronics and circuits theory and analysis.
  • Ability to read schematics, board layouts, and datasheets, as well as use common hardware debugging tools such as: oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards in electronic design and fabrication.
  • The ability to work well with others in a fast-pace, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of embedded micro-controller systems (e.g Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
  • Working knowledge of common programming languages (C/C++, Python, Java, etc.).
  • Ability to evaluate or test computer applications or programs.
  • Mechanical skills related to vehicle, aircraft, or ship maintenance
  • Hobbyist-level skills in robotics, drones or remote-controlled airplanes

Other:
  • U.S. citizenship required. 
  • Must have a fully adjudicated (not an interim) Government clearance.
  • Must pass a drug test.
  • May require support during weekends to prepare equipment for upcoming tests or operations.
