What You Will Do: 

You will support our hazard mitigation & grants team with general planning services to our clients.

Specific work tasks include:

 

  • Research and compile information on a variety of planning issues from multiple sources.
  • Attend meetings, assisting other planning staff as appropriate.
  • Interpret and apply applicable federal, state, county and local codes, ordinances and regulations.
  • Conduct extensive research in specific or general project areas.
  • Write and present formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence.
  • Recommend priorities, schedules, and funding sources to implement public improvement plans.
  • Knowledge of effective writing techniques.
  • Knowledge of or experience in community hazard mitigation & grant applications, and knowledge of relevant Federal programs.
  • Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Adhere to company policies and client standards to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.
  • Display effective time management.
  • Other duties related to hazard mitigation and emergency management as required.

What You Will Bring: 

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.)
  • A desire to work to grow the Emergency Management & Disaster Consulting business.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Proven abilities in leadership, facilitating commission/council meetings, relationship-building, a positive attitude, and a passion for your work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork, problem solving and ability to coordinate with other members of a project team.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which may include Microsoft

Office, Adobe Suite, Internet applications.

  • Knowledge of FEMA GO, HAZUS, and FEMA Benefit Cost Analysis v 6.0
