The Senior Scientific Advisor for the DeCPTR-Nuclear project is a pivotal part-time role responsible for providing expert guidance and strategic insights during the project's initial phases. This position is essential for shaping the foundational elements of the project, ensuring its long-term success and alignment with strategic objectives. The Senior Scientific Advisor will utilize their extensive expertise in nuclear radiation science and their deep understanding of the DeCPTR program to inform and guide strategic decisions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Advisory and Framework Development: Provide expert guidance in developing the program's structural framework, including governance models and strategic alignment with the overarching goals of the DeCPTR-Nuclear initiative. 
  • Business Rules and Process Optimization: Assist in designing and implementing business rules that govern project operations, identifying key processes that streamline operations and enhance compliance. 
  • Operational Procedure Development: Guide the creation of detailed operational procedures, ensuring consistency, reliability, and quality in all activities. 
  • Project Initiation and Transition: Play a crucial role in ensuring that foundational elements are in place during the project's initiation phase, conducting risk assessments and establishing key performance indicators. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment: Engage with key stakeholders, including government leads and testing entities, to ensure project objectives are understood and supported. 
  • Scientific Expertise and Strategic Guidance: Provide strategic insights that inform project direction, ensuring that scientific advancements enhance the project's competitive edge and operational effectiveness. 
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Offer ongoing feedback and recommendations for process improvements, championing a culture of innovation and exploration of new technologies. 

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Advanced degree in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related scientific field. 
  • Extensive experience in scientific advisory roles, with a strong track record of contributing to the success of similar projects within the defense or aerospace sectors. 
  • Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
