The Department of Medicine's Renal-Electrolyte Division is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate. The successful candidate will hold a recently awarded PhD, MD, or equivalent in a science-related field. They will be joining in on research that will involve developing detailed models for the endocytic pathway in individual proximal tubule cells, as well as along the entire axis of the proximal tubule under normal and disease conditions. The concept that endocytic activity varies along the proximal tubule axis is new and has important implications for understanding how filtered proteins and accessory metabolites are processed under fed and fasted conditions as well as in disease states. For example, changes in water and sodium reabsorption in diabetes (or upon treatment with SGLT2 inhibitors) will influence the profile of ligand uptake. Moreover, differences in the expression of multiligand receptors and ion transporters have been reported that are predicted to have implications for may explain sex-based differences in the severity of kidney disease.
Expertise in mathematical modeling and quantitative imaging will be crucial to this research.
Please submit a copy of your doctoral degree along with your CV.
