Position: Chief Inspector or an Assistant Resident Engineer

Reports to: Resident Engineer/Project Manager


General Qualities:

- Strong written and oral communication skills to lead the construction inspection staff.

- Provides technical and management support to the Department Manager/Regional Manager/Project Manager.

- Manages a major complex project and/or several routines/fewer complex projects.


Technical Responsibilities:

- Responsible for managing the daily operations of the construction inspection team.

- Attending and managing progress meetings.

- Ensure work conforms to project specifications, standards, and regulations.

- Conduct field inspections and maintain comprehensive project records.

- Prepare reports, correspondence, and recommendations regarding construction progress and issues.

- Coordinate effectively with contractors, agencies, and project stakeholders.

- Provide technical guidance on construction practices and procedures.

- In-depth knowledge of construction standards and inspection protocols.

- Strong communication and leadership skills.

- Maintaining and following KSE's health and safety procedures as well as firm various policies and procedures.

- Proven ability to manage documentation, reports, and stakeholder coordination

- Responsive to Client and other KSE Managers/needs.

- Supervise and manage construction inspection teams.


Experience:

- 10 years of relevant experience in construction inspection or management of infrastructure construction projects.

- At least 5 years of bridge construction experience with a preferred familiarity with NYSDOT or NYCDOT major highway, or roadway construction projects, including bridges over waterways and including painting work.

- Maintain valid driver's license.

Requirements:

Educational Qualifications/Professional Licenses:

- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related fields

- PE License in New York State desired but not required.

- Certifications such as ACI, and OSHA 30 hours are highly desired.


Physical Requirement:

- This position requires physical ability to perform field inspections.

- Ability to work in diverse weather conditions.

- Extended periods of standing and walking possibly on uneven or challenging terrains.

- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift moderate weights, and work in various conditions.

- Ability to climb secure ladders.

- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.


Professional Development:

- Actively participates in professional societies, industry organizations, and local civic organizations.

- Encourages professional development and training and licensing (self and staff).
