Join the Texas based Gallagher team, we are now a part of the Cumming Group! This role is based in our Houston office. The Cost Manager I has gained the foundation in preparing estimates and delivering cost advice to our clients. Demonstrates an ability to work independently with guidance from their manager and has strong research skills. Has a working knowledge of our tools systems and procedures and has a basic understanding of the market in which they work. needs to demonstrate fundamentals of standard methods of measurement and components of unit rates (Labor, Material and Equipment).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop budget estimates by performing accurate quantity take offs using plans and specifications, or conceptual information.
  • Review, interpret and define the scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.
  • Build up unit costs based on understanding of labor and material rate structures.
  • Understand local market conditions and solicit feedback where applicable.
  • Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor and client relationships.
  • Prepare and deliver summary analysis for assigned scope of work.
  • Understand basic contractual arrangements and delivery methods.
  • Evaluate change orders and peer review of estimates.
  • Assist with the continuous cost management process.
  • Develop and implement risk and value management exercises on projects.
  • Participate in local industry events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance at work during normal business hours.

  • Possess a working knowledge of Cumming's tools, systems, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of cost management fundamentals.

  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Education: BS in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field

Experience: more than 2 years' experience post receiving undergraduate degree working in related field

Preferred Certification: Working towards Professional Certification – MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, CPE or equivalent
