Position Title:Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Hospital

Location: Owensboro, KY

Description:

The PMHNP will provide comprehensive psychiatric care and mental health services to individuals across the lifespan, helping patients manage and overcome mental health disorders. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing conditions, prescribing medications, and developing treatment plans that integrate therapy and other interventions.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnostic services for patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, including medication management and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide psychotherapy and counseling to patients, either individually or in group settings.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors, to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to patient care.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatments as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in case consultations, team meetings, and continuing education programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health.
  • Current and valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the state.
  • National certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a PMHNP.
  • Experience preferred but not required in psychiatric care, preferably in an outpatient or behavioral health setting.
  • Strong understanding of psychiatric medications, therapies, and treatment modalities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
