Job Title: Operations Manager

Department: Operations – Services

Reports To: RavenTek Program Manager

Location: Norfolk, VA

Schedule: Monday – Friday with on-call support as needed

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Salary, exempt

Clearance: Secret


Position Summary

The Operations Manager will lead IT service delivery and computer operations for a critical Navy program. This role is responsible for ensuring system availability, efficiency, and performance across legacy and modern platforms. The position requires technical expertise and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and processes that support operational excellence. The performance of the Operations Manager position is key to RavenTek's performance on the contract, and therefore, RavenTek's mission to support the customer.


Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage computer operations alongside DBAs, system administrators, and data center personnel.
  • Ensure production schedules are met across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Optimize resource utilization and system effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and resolve production-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with customers, team partners, and vendors.
  • Oversee delivery of IT services and ensure high-quality system outputs.
  • Supervise technical staff across multiple disciplines and locations.
  • Lead operations for both legacy and modern IT environments.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD/Navy operational requirements.
  • Manage day-to-day operational processes and long-term improvement initiatives.
  • Lead initiatives to improve service efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
  • Provide Monthly Status Report (MSR) to the RavenTek Program Manager by the deadline provided.?
  • Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly.
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned.
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis up to 10%.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Critical Skills

  • Strong understanding of IT operations management in DoD environments.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of DoD operational requirements.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional technical teams and processes.
  • Experience with production systems across diverse platforms.
  • Effective leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with legacy systems and modern IT service delivery.
  • Ability to coordinate operations effectively across multiple geographic locations.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or 5 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management within DoD/Navy programs.
  • At least 3 years of managerial experience.

Certifications, Licenses

  • CompTIA Security+ CE required.
  • ITIL certification, SAFe certification, Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) desired.

Special Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
  • Availability for on-call support as needed to manage critical operations.

Work Environment

Employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.

Physical Demands

To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
