Laboratory Specialist



Center for Antibody Therapeutics (CAT), housed in the Division of Infectious Diseases, is searching for a Laboratory Specialist. The lab focus is on identification and characterization of antibodies by using the phage display technology. The routine lab work includes the basic molecular and cell biology experiments, including by not limit to: molecular subcloning, plasmids extraction, protein expression and purification; cell culture, viability assays, flow cytometry; ELISA, SPR; protein biophysical property characterization. The knowledge of basic immunology about antibody structure and function is preferred, but not a must.

  • Performs a variety of laboratory experiments such as histology, flow cytometry, molecular techniques, gene sequencing, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis, including microsurgical procedures, and ensuring conformity to specifications.
  • Identifies and prepares specimens such as isolation of human PBMSs from blood.
  • Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.
  • Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for fub functions.
  • Keeps detailed, accurate and timely data and log books. Organized and documents results.

Essential Functions

Physical Effort

Physically able to stand for long periods of time at lab benches. Commuting between on-site labs and offices within the division.
