The University of South Alabama’s Web Services department is seeking to hire a Web Design Specialist I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Assists the web development team in building and maintaining an active and effective public web presence for the University with a focus on both design and usability.
- Uses HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create/modify tools in the CMS (snippets, assets and components) designed to provide a more diverse look and feel to the present site and to meet the University’s communications and marketing needs.
- Utilizes artistic design skills and technical development to ensure the website functions appropriately, is mobile responsive and meets accessibility requirements.
- Ensures that the website is compatible with all types of devices (mobile and desktop) and with all browsers.
- Has working knowledge of graphic design software Adobe Photoshop.
- Works with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat to create accessible PDFs.
- Works collaboratively with the IT and Marketing departments and content contributors.
- Performs SEO and accessibility audits of website including broken links checker and page structure for improvement and optimization.
- Works with faculty and staff to maintain program/department pages using the template-based content management system and ensures that accessible designs are implemented in the web content.
- Keeps up to date with the latest technology and programming trends.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
