Position Summary

The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to support active construction projects at two key locations: Hagerman Fossil Beds and Minidoka National Historic Site in Idaho. The ideal candidate will act as the on-site technical representative, ensuring all construction activities are in compliance with contract requirements, plans, and specifications, while documenting progress and facilitating communication among stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Monitor and document construction progress to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, and specifications.Conduct and document inspections, including pre-inspections, in-progress inspections, and final/post inspections.Facilitate and lead progress and coordination meetings with contractors, government representatives, and stakeholders.Evaluate and review payment applications, contractor invoices, and change orders.Review as-constructed markup drawings and submittals for accuracy and completeness.Review and assess baseline and updated project schedules, including Time Impact Analyses (TIA) and recovery schedules.Prepare and submit detailed daily field observation reports and other required documentation.Provide independent cost estimates using industry-standard estimating software.Assist with scope change documentation and negotiations involving labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and profit.Ensure project compliance with all applicable codes, safety regulations, and federal construction requirements.Utilize ProjectTeam software to track submittals, RFIs, and communication.Support remote logistics and compliance mitigations related to cultural and natural resources on federal lands.

Must have Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travelMust have valid driver"s license Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or related field from an ABET-accredited institution.Construction management and project coordination.Inspecting and verifying construction work for quality and compliance.Reviewing project documents, drawings, and construction schedules.Conducting and facilitating meetings and communicating project status.Estimating and evaluating contractor proposals using industry software.Working on projects involving fire suppression systems and/or remote logistics.Federal projects and coordination with Project Managers/Contracting Officers/CORs.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Technical Skills

Experience with National Park Service (NPS) projects or other federal agencies.Experience on new standalone metal buildings, fire suppression systems (wet/dry), and remote logistics.Background in environmental compliance and coordination with cultural and natural resources.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Teams.Experience with project management software such as Primavera (P6 or P3), Procore, and ProjectTeam.Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, plans, specifications, and estimates.Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and construction practices.Ability to develop and evaluate detailed cost breakdowns (labor, materials, equipment, OH&P).Skilled in preparing and interpreting construction schedules and TIA documentation.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a quiet, climate-controlled environment. While in the office, there is no regular exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, or heavy machinery.

This role also requires periodic travel to project sites, including locations undergoing renovation or active construction. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to non-temperature-controlled environments, construction noise, dust, and other typical conditions found on job sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during these visits, depending on site conditions. While on site visits, an individual in this role will be required to work atypical hours at the request of the client or role demands.

Physical Demands

Sitting/Standing: This is not a sedentary role. This role requires the ability to be on your feet moving around a construction site for most of the day interacting with contractors, contractor representatives, and inspecting the construction work that is being performed.

Walking: This role requires the ability to move about outside in various geographic and building terrains to access a construction site to provide quality assurance services.

Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and ladder climbing to inspect all aspects of building construction to foundations, crawlspaces, and roofs.

Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.

Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.

Seeing: This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of construction to ensure quality control.

Carrying/Lifting: This role requires lifting up to 30 lbs to transport technological office equipment, safety equipment, and other needed construction items to and from various workspaces.
