Laboratory Research Technician



Department specific duties:

  • Coordination of collection of clinical samples, isolation of platelets from human blood samples, measurement of platelet function, organization and processing of blood samples from large human studies.
  • Performance of cell and tissue culture and biochemical assays to measure mitochondrial function, cell proliferation, cell viability, and other biochemical parameters
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining lab supplies, equipment and reagents.
  • Collect data and perform analysis. Update lab notebook and prepare graphs, figures, write up methodology for presentation and publication.


Job Summary

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.


Essential Functions

Detail oriented. Accurate visual recognition of small samples, repetitive pipetting, animal surgery requires accurate eye to hand coordination, excellent visual acuity, and manual dexterity. Ability to work independently or in a team-based environment.


Physical Effort

This position will require standing for long periods of time and/or walking for extending periods (if resources need to be accessed at other University labs/offices). Although infrequent, the position will occasionally require moving heavy equipment.
