POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of all accounting and financial functions of specific OPCO, including the financial liaison and business partner with operational vice presidents of Material Handling, Contractor Services, Service Operations, Human Resources, and Supply Chain and IT, in addition to regional management. The primary responsibilities include the monthly supervision of the monthly close process and generation of financial statements, assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, coordination of risk management and internal controls and manage the annual audit with KPMG. The Controller will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures that identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes efficient and accurate.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Work closely with Regional Controller in the preparation of Monthly Financial Statements Including Analytical Review
  • Review and record journal entries required to reflect monthly activity
  • Ensure proper month-end close process to ensure accuracy of accounting records
  • Preparation of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month-end balances
  • Ensure the timely completion and accuracy of monthly account reconciliations
  • Ensure the timely completion and accuracy of all bank reconciliations
  • Update Hyperion to meet Equipment Depot monthly reporting requirements
  • Balance inter-company balances with Equipment Depot
  • Assist with preparation of an annual budget and quarterly forecasts
  • Prepare weekly cash projections to effectively enable the enhancement of cash flows and minimize cash balances
  • Business partner with operational vice presidents of Material Handling, Contractor Services and Service Operations in addition to regional management
  • Analytical review of the operations from a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow perspective
  • Support the month-end business review process with value-added information & analysis
  • Communication as necessary to answer questions and inform business partners concerning financial performance and business issues
  • Recommend sales and cost improvement strategies
  • Provide business forecasts
  • Work with CFO and Director of Shared Services to implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
  • Work with CFO and Director of Shared Services to implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles and ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Equipment Depot policies
  • Successfully manage the annual audit process with external auditors
  • Responsible for local banking relationships


Qualifications:

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s and/or Masters Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
Experience:

  • Five+ years in accounting and finance sector
  • Four+ years of experience managing accounting and the finance process
  • Three+ years of experience in a position equivalent to a controller or higher responsibilities for a service company with annual revenues over $100 million.
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise written and verbal presentations. Must be able to effectively communicate with people operating at all levels of the company in a variety of situations
  • Exceptional computer skills in the operation of all programs used by the organization including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Certification: CPA or CMA preferred
