The Director of Medical Value and Outcomes will lead the strategic development and execution of medical value and outcomes initiatives for the Medical Affairs organization, focusing on dermatology products. This role is responsible for demonstrating the clinical and economic value of marketed and investigational dermatology products to healthcare professionals (HCPs), payers, and healthcare organizations (HCOs) in compliance with all policies, regulations, and guidelines. The Director will serve as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring robust evidence generation and communication of value propositions to support market access and product adoption. The successful candidate will possess expert knowledge in dermatology, health economics, and outcomes research, and will drive cross-functional collaboration to align medical and commercial strategies.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Develops and implements strategies to demonstrate the clinical, economic, and humanistic value of dermatology products to payers, HCPs, and HCOs.
  2. Establish and nurture relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in managed markets and payer organizations.
  3. Provide scientific support to payers during formulary reviews and decision-making processes, often presenting data and answering questions related to the clinical and economic value of treatments.
  4. Synthesizes and communicates complex clinical and economic data into compelling value narratives tailored to diverse audiences.
  5. Utilizes a scientific engagement model to plan and execute interactions with payers, HCPs, and other stakeholders, aligned with the Medical Affairs strategic plan.
  6. Collaborates with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment of evidence generation plans with product lifecycle strategies.
  7. Leads educational initiatives, including advisory boards and payer-focused programs, to communicate product value and address stakeholder needs
  8. Partners on the development of value dossiers, economic models, and other tools to support payer negotiations and formulary inclusion
  9. Stays abreast of trends in health policy, payer requirements, and dermatology therapeutic advancements to inform strategic planninng

Education & Licenses and Experience

  • Education: MD, PhD, PharmD, or other relevant advanced degree in health sciences or health economics required; MBA or MPH preferred.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in health economics, outcomes research, or medical affairs within the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on dermatology preferred.

 Competencies & Skills

  • Develop and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with key managed care experts, and medical experts in the medical dermatology community
  • Support medial affairs initiatives in support of market access goals
  • Ability to translate complex clinical and economic data into clear, impactful value propositions for diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and external partnerships.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to engage payers, HCPs, and senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in developing value communication tools such as slide decks, an dossiers
  • Working knowledge of U.S. healthcare systems, payer dynamics, and regulatory compliance related to HEOR and medical communications.
  • Ability to anticipate and adapt to evolving healthcare policies, market trends, and stakeholder needs.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and data analytics platforms used in market access and HEOR.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to align medical value initiatives with broader commercial objectives.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Other

  • Must be willing and able to travel approximately 40% within region, including overnight travel. 
  • Other travel for business meetings, conferences, or payer engagements may also be required. 
  • Must live within territory and in close proximity to a major airport. 
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a clean driving record.
