JOB TITLE: INVENTORY CONTROL SPECIALIST

REPORTS TO: Inventory Manager

DEPARTMENT: Materials

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for tracking and maintaining correct inventory

management including counting and day-to-day inventory operations. The Inventory Control

Specialist maintains communication with all members of the Supply Chain and acts as a liaison to other departments.

GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and manage all warehouse inventory locations.
  • Report on inventory activities and variances.
  • Perform daily inventory cycle counts and reconciliation.
  • Document inventory discrepancies, determines root causes and corrective actions.
  • Communicate with Supply Chain Management about current stock and potential issues with orders.
  • Help in the support of managing VMI inventory levels.
  • Recommend slow moving inventory disposition.
  • Assist in developing and initiating control policies and procedures and in planning activities that relate to inventory control in the organization.
  • Control inventory by demonstrating complete ownership and accountability for all inventoried items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory, distribution, and operational procedures.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work independently.
  • In-depth understanding of distribution workplaces.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and PC skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • InfoFlo Experience preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds on occasion.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Conduct all interactions with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers, and field sales representatives in a focused, positive, courteous and respectful manner.
    • Regular attendance is an essential element of the job. Unplanned absences have the potential to impair the operation of the department and diminish the effectiveness of the company.
    • Flexible with periodic change in hours when required.
    • Cross train in multiple job functions
    • Safely operate various material handling equipment (e.g. stand-up forklift, reach truck, sit down forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack, etc.)
