Position Title:PRN Nurse - Physician's Clinic

Location: Owensboro, KY | Lewisport, KY; Beaver Dam, KY; Morganfield, KY; Providence, KY

Description:

The Float Nurse functions within the framework of the objectives, missions, and values of RiverValley Behavioral Health. This position will provide coverage in all aspects of the clinic when coverage is required. The duties include but are not limited to assisting providers with services that include behavioral health, medication assisted treatment, and primary care services. Duties include answering and responding to client phone calls, refill requests, prior authorizations, notifying of lab and test results, vitals, UDS, EKG’s, injections for clients or employees, proper documentation, intake/induction and all assigned duties. Travel is required as needed to other clinics.

Essential Functions:?

  • Practices within the scope of nursing as outline by KY State Board of Nursing.

  • Maintains current KY state nursing license and CPR.

  • Maintains and updates client’s medications record to reflect medications used and to monitor for potential adverse effects. Documents all medication activity in the client record. Requests KASPERS as directed by Physician.

  • Obtains KASPERS as directed by Physician and forwards results to requesting provider for review and signature.

  • Identifies and reports any known refill or health record errors.

  • Maintains security of patient injectable medications in nurses’ office. Administers medications as ordered by providers with adherence to OSHA and state guidelines.

  • Oversees the processing of applications for patient care assistance and maintain the security of the PAP medications until patients pick them up from our clinic.

  • Obtains vital signs and documents results as required and when requested by providers.

Patient Communications and Medication Information:

  • Provides atmosphere of customer service by assuring that clients are treated in a friendly and respectful manner.

  • Verifies medication dose and assures that patient has the necessary documentation to obtain refills as prescribed.

  • Provides client and family with medication education. Extends a welcoming, reassuring presence to all patients regarding medication issues and physician instructions. Reviews medications with patient following physician completion and signature. Reviews physician instructions with patient and ensures that follow up is scheduled as ordered.? Documents all such direct patient contacts, as directed, in the record.

  • Maintains client’s medication records according to Agency policies.

  • Assists with all urgent matters, crises, and other client interactions as requested

  • Answers Triage phone calls and provides support to the physicians and the APRN. Responds to patient questions and phone calls.?

  • Reviews all lab work and result. Forwards results to Physician/APRN and discusses results with patients as per providers’ recommendations.

Department/Company Needs:

  • Participates as an active member of the Physician Clinic Staff and attends meetings as scheduled.

  • Acts as back up for front office staff. Assists with coverage of all BOR duties.

  • Acts as back up for MA. Assists with coverage of all SRNA/ CNA duties.

  • Maintains annual training

  • Fosters collaborative working relationships among members of the leadership and management teams and programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in nursing.
  • Current and valid nursing license.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and psychotropic medications.
  • Excellent assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate collaboratively with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach towards patients.
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral processes.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems and proficiency in documenting patient care.
