Job Title: Data Visualization Engineer

Location(s): Arlington, VA (must be located in the Greater Washington DC area due to regular onsite client meetings)

Workplace: Hybrid

Clearance Required: Secret

Position Overview:

As a Data Visualization Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming complex datasets into clear, compelling, and actionable visual narratives. Working closely with an advanced Data Science team, you will develop interactive dashboards and visual tools—primarily using Tableau—to help stakeholders uncover insights, drive decisions, and communicate the value of data.

This position requires a strong sense of design, creativity, and attention to detail, along with the technical ability to extract, transform, and visualize large, diverse datasets.

Position Requirements:

  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to translate sophisticated analytical models and results into intuitive, visually engaging Tableau dashboards.
  • Obtain, integrate, clean, and prepare data for analysis from a wide variety of sources and formats.
  • Explore, analyze, and summarize large datasets using interactive dashboards and visual techniques to enable effective decision-making.
  • Build scalable, repeatable solutions for data ingestion, transformation, and visualization within custom client applications.
  • Deliver tools, templates, and training that empower users to independently explore, analyze, and interpret their own data.
  • Maintain familiarity with other visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Qlik) as required for integration or cross-functional needs.

Required Clearance: Active Secret Clearance

Required Education: Bachelors Degree

Required Skills / Experience: 3+ Years Tableau visualization skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data/Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in data visualization, business intelligence, or analytics.
  • Proven expertise in Tableau, with the ability to design intuitive and impactful dashboards for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience identifying and resolving data quality issues.
  • Experience extracting, transforming, and structuring data to support both exploratory analytics and operational reporting.
  • Strong creative and visual storytelling skills with an eye for design, usability, and user experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Interest in expanding data science capabilities is welcomed and supported through hands-on collaboration with a highly skilled analytics team.
