Job Summary

The Senior Analyst - Finance is a business partner who develops an understanding of one or several Company business areas and presents risks, opportunities and recommendations. The Senior Analyst leads individual processes within the Company’s overall financial resource planning and in analysis of actual results against the plan. This role will have primary responsibility for leading one or several forecasting and budgeting components (margin, payroll, operating expenses, other income/expense, and/or interest expense) and communicating variance drivers to support business decisions. This role will also learn and provide support for the Utilities base rate case process and will be a leader in automating financial processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • For the business areas or planning components responsible for, independently prepare forecasts, budgets, operating statistics and/or related analysis. This includes loading and retrieving data from the Hyperion system for business segment or Corporate use.
  • Analyze, prepare and summarize actual results and recommendations for financial plans and forecasts.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of reporting and analytic capabilities for key management, operations and performance metrics. Lead process automation within the Finance department, in support of budgeting, forecasting and rate case information needs.
  • Develop detailed financial analysis and provide financial information and analysis in support of executive management decision making and strategy.
  • Provide support for the Company’s base rate cases and create analyses and responses to inquiries from regulators in support the Company’s rate base claims, including defense of budgeted amounts for payroll, benefits and other operating expenses as well as debt/equity structure.
  • Prepare monthly & quarterly presentations of financial and business results for senior leadership or other departments as needed.
  • Participate in special projects and analysis, including collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong financial analysis, reporting and planning knowledge, modeling skills, and associated advanced Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of data analytics methods, tools and deliverables.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize and prioritize own workload, to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and the interaction between the P&L, B/S and cash flow.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Data Science/Analytics preferred.

5+ years of related finance, data analytics and/or accounting experience

MBA a plus

Knowledge of and/or experience with Hyperion Planning/PBCS, PowerBI, SQL, Alteryx, and/or Smartview helpful.
