GENERAL JOB SUMMARY - Licensed Clinician

The Licensed Clinician is responsible for coordinating all aspects of clinical treatment for assigned clients. Engages with clients firsthand. May provide individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy and crisis intervention. The Clinician renders diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults, and/or families; Maintains contact with and consults with relevant collaborative parties. Participates as full member of the clinical team and the program and is responsible for maintaining client records.

This position will be shared with two programs: you will work 50% in MDE (Multidisciplinary Evaluation) and 50% with ECC (Enhanced Care Clinic).

PROGRAM SPECIFIC JOB SUMMARIES

Multidiscplinary Evaluator - MDE Program

Complete multidisciplinary evaluations for children ages 0-17 entering foster care. Performs mental health screenings as required by scope of service. Upon completion of client summary report and recommendations, ensure reports are received by DCF team. Alerts DCF of any urgent client needs immediately following appointment. Responsible for coordinating and collaborating with DCF and other community agencies in the completion and implementation of recommendations. Assists in implementing programmatic and agency priorities within the MDE Clinic.

Enhanced Care Clinic Clinician - ECC Program

Provides clinic and school-based therapy to children and families presenting with a broad range of clinical diagnoses and presenting needs. Services provided include individual and family therapy, parent skills training, risk assessments and crisis management, trauma informed treatment, case management and advocacy. Participates in the development and implementation of treatment plans modifying as appropriate during service. Services provided are in collaboration with DCF, schools, PCPs, and other community-based providers as needed. Clinicians are responsible for attending weekly individual supervision and group supervision, clinical rounds, and other department meetings. Participates as full member of the multidisciplinary clinical team. Is responsible for maintaining clinical documentation according to licensing, accreditation, Medicaid/DCF, and best practice standards. Must maintain targets for client contact hours as determined by the department and must work toward/maintain applicable licensure status. Opportunities exist for training in evidence-based models and support is given for use of the model with identified clients and families.

General Clinician KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Direct services may include, but not limited to:
    1. Conducts (comprehensive) clinical assessments and engagement
    2. Determines DSM V Diagnosis in consultation with supervisor, Medical Director, Psychiatrist, medical provider, or designee as needed.
    3. Develops treatment plans and contracts for services.
    4. Implements treatment plans, modifying it as appropriate during treatment.
    5. Discharge planning, which may include linkages to community support services.
    6. Provides case management services.
    7. Completes clinical documentation required by agency and program policies, HIPAA regulations, and funding sources.
    8. Maintains productivity targets determined by service.
  2. Participates and presents in Peer Consultation and Quality Assurance Reviews.
  3. Fosters collaboration with other clinical and administrative staff to respond to client and programmatic needs, including the implementation of agency policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  4. Partners with other programs or clinical staff to identify and develop approaches to address clients’ unmet needs or service gaps.
  5. Acquires and maintains the needed skills in evidenced based models that the agency/program ascribes to.
  6. Partners with Supervisor to identify and develop plans for professional growth.
  7. Contributes to program functioning by assuming responsibility for special tasks or leadership in special projects as appropriate.
  8. Contributes to agency organizational life by participating in agency wide task forces, committees, or problem-solving teams as appropriate.
  9. Contributes to agency visibility and development of community linkages by representing the Village in community groups or committees.
  10. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience and Skills

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or other licensed counseling degree.
  • State of CT license required (i.e., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist)
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience postgraduate in an outpatient setting (depending on program*).
  • Bilingual/bicultural skills preferred.
  • Cultural competency to serve a diverse population.
  • Strong diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills for individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Extensive experience working with culturally diverse populations, a wide age range, and a variety of clinical presentations.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health, child welfare systems, and community resources.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to function autonomously in day-to-day responsibilities; yet seek consultation appropriately when needed.
  • Proficiency with word processing and general computer skills.
