Overview

The Lynch Lab is seeking a highly organized and motivated Lab Manager for a full-time position within the Ludwig Princeton Branch. Our lab aims to establish a mechanistic understanding of how diet, obesity and systemic metabolism impact the immune system and ability of the immune system to detect and kill cancer. Reciprocally, we study how the immune system influences whole body metabolism. The lab manager will oversee operations for a 12-15 member research group and the work performed by the successful candidate will be central to the core projects of the lab and will result in co-authorship on high impact publications. The responsibility of the position is divided into project management, lab management and mouse colony management. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension. The lab manager will serve as a project manager for projects ongoing among postdocs and students, and will design experiments and undertake method development. The lab manager will also be responsible for maintaining standards and IACUC and IRB approval, and assist with grant writing. They will also take a senior role in project development and bringing together work for publication and presentation.



Responsibilities

  • Project management for several projects in the lab, working with teams of postdocs and students. Train new students and lab members in experimental procedures
  • Maintain standards including lab animal and safety protocol in coordination with the principal investigator, and assist with grant writing
  • Method development for new techniques in the lab, as well as assisting with lab experiments including tissue dissections, cell isolations, flow cytometry, imaging, cell culture. Develop new experimental protocols as the need arises
  • Manage collaborations outside the lab with other Ludwig PIs, and national and international collaborations, including maintaining standards and rules, shipments, collaborative experiments, data analysis and reporting and managing collaborative meetings
  • In coordination with PI, assist with new personnel onboarding and train basic mouse handling and lab techniques (tissue dissection, cell isolations, cell culture), maintain lab meeting schedules, organize lab events
  • In charge of lab maintenance, including ordering, shipping and receiving of lab reagents/supplies; organize of lab supplies; inventory, make buffers for lab use, ensure lab safety is aligned with internal and external regulations. Delegate lab jobs and maintain standards

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in lab management
    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience working in a cellular or molecular biology laboratory setting.
    • Must be detail-oriented and highly motivated.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work collaboratively as a part of a team.
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and exercise discretion with confidential information.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to take initiative and meet firm deadlines.
    • Flexibility to adapt to the science and research needs of the lab.
    • Proven time management and organizational skills
    • Intrinsically motivated by doing good work
