The Accounting Clerk works directly with the accounting team to provide admin support and assistance with accounting responsibilities and data entry and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the monthly financial close process including preparation and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries for multiple entities
  • Assist with trade accounts payable, accounts receivable, claims payable and general ledger transactions adhering to established department and company deadlines
  • Assist with approving invoices for payment, including account coding and consistent posting of transactions.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining sub-ledgers including fixed assets, AR, AP and Inventory.
  • Post transactions as requested for accounts payable and claims chargebacks.
  • Prepare the daily posting of transactions involving our Comdata payment program used for our contract drivers as initiated by our Central Dispatch division.
  • Prepare contract driver and contractor commission statements for each settlement they are paid. Prepare and collate each commission statement with related supporting documents
  • Prepare company driver commission statements for each pay period.
  • Assist with posting bank reconciling items, banking fees, ACH payments, AP (Accounts Payable) Vendor payments.
  • Assist with process of preparing, obtaining approval and recording general ledger journal entries.
  • Assist with reconciling intercompany transactions and accounts monthly.
  • Assist with preparing, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Prepare bank account reconciliations monthly.
  • Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Program.

  • Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2 years accounting experience, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer Service oriented
  • Ability to work well in time-sensitive situations where customer satisfaction is the goal.
  • Proven ability to apply attention to detail, role-related accuracy and task follow-through.
  • Experience in data analysis a plus.
  • Proficient using MS Excel, Word, Power Point, and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Positive, proactive, and professional demeanor
  • The ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
