What You’ll Do:

Customers Bank’s legal department provides high quality, cost effective legal services to support the Bank’s overall culture and vision while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The VP Corporate Counsel will be an integral part of the Bank’s Legal Department who will advise and provide legal support to the EVP General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and Business Unit Team Members with respect to a variety of areas, including legal research and analysis relative to financial, regulatory, and operational matters, and management of special complex legal projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and practical legal analysis, counsel and support to Legal Department team members, Business Units and management regarding a myriad of legal matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis for complex issues impacting the Company.
  • Draft and revise customer-facing agreements, forms and disclosures, marketing pieces and operational policies and procedures.
  • Provide support and analysis with respect to legal, financial, regulatory and operational issues impacting the Company.
  • Provide leadership for special projects at the direction of the General Counsel.

What Do You Need?

Demonstrated Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in the practice of law, including in-house at a regional or large bank.
  • Currently licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania or New York.
  • Solid understanding of federal and Pennsylvania State banking laws, rules and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of federal consumer protection laws, rules and regulations.
  • Strong work ethic and self-initiative, with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Solid organization skills and the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities while achieving superior results.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, at all levels within the organization, including being able to make and communicate difficult decisions to appropriate persons in the organization.
  • Commitment to exemplifying the highest integrity and professional business standards, while exercising the utmost discretion in managing sensitive information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials.

Technology Skills:

  • Ability to work with the Microsoft Suite and learn/work with other Customers Bank’s applications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Online research
