Overview
Consor is currently looking for a Survey Technician I to join our Construction Services Surveying team specializing in transportation-related structures in our Phoenix Downtown office. As a dynamic and growing engineering consulting firm, Consor has many opportunities for career development.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of a Survey Crew Chief, performs work using a variety of survey equipment such as Global Positioning Systems (GPS), total stations, and levels; prepares designated highway segments for construction, location, or photogrammetric surveying; and other related duties.
Assists a field survey crew on multiple transportation construction projects to locate existing survey monuments, set traverse points for control, set new survey monuments for use as control points, and paint and/or set targets for aerial mapping.
Assists a field survey crew to compile field survey books, prepare maps, diagrams, and sketches, annotate photographs, and write field survey notes.
Sets up survey sites for survey control, runs bench levels for vertical control, establishes elevations and sets control rods, sets control points with stakes, hubs, and pins, and places aerial targets. Places traffic cones on highway worksites.
Performs daily tasks by demonstrating proper procedures for using specialized equipment.
Operates a variety of survey equipment including automatic distance measuring devices, Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite receivers, total stations, and electronic levels for electronic data collection.
Performs other related duties such as testing and maintaining survey equipment, restocking supplies, and operation and maintenance of company vehicles.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
Maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for Consor insurance requirements.
Ability to effectively follow instructions; deal effectively with contractors and public.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work safely, collaboratively, and proactively in a team environment.
This hybrid job operates between an office environment and a field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. May require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements.
While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. This job may occasionally require operating a company vehicle, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
