Do you have a clear head for scheduling and logistics with a desire to care for our employees and our community? As the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) moves forward toward new places and destinations, we need you for our Bus Operations Scheduler. In this position, you will take a key role in keeping our fleet of buses moving to serve our communities. You will take control of the work schedules of our Bus Operators to make sure we can keep our communities connected and mobile.

As our Operations Scheduler, you will:

  • Report to the Manager Operations (Service Delivery)
  • Be responsible for blocking, run cutting, vehicle assignments, schedule making, scheduling material, analyzing vehicle hours and peak vehicles for multimodal transit utilizing scheduling software.
  • Assist with the implementation of scheduling software and software upgrades.
  • Prioritize and produce schedule revisions and ensures adequate running times, recoveries and break periods.
  • Perform service delivery investigations and conduct interviews with employees related to schedules on the system and in the report areas.
  • Prepare reports and makes recommendations to improve service delivery.
  • Coordinate all schedule documents including Operator and vehicle assignments, schedule changes, and special event services.
  • Prepare and maintain the scheduling database system used to coordinate timely presentation of scheduling material and documented information.
  • Provide support to the Manager of Operations (Service Delivery) to complete special projects.
  • Be required to establish and maintain a strong relationship with service units and other offices to fulfill requests, support special projects, and resolve issues.
  • Be required to demonstrate a commitment to safety that guides all aspects of work through consistent and professional behaviors in performance of the essential duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree with a major in public administration, transportation, statistics, or a closely related field required preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Four years in transit operations, maintenance, schedule making, or a related support function. Two years working with scheduling software preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Timetable development such as dwell times, running times, layover and recovery times, and coordination with other services.

  • Collective bargaining agreements and workforce rules.
  • Financial implications of scheduling and operational changes.
  • Key performance indicators and performance measurement.

  • Apply new information, techniques, and technologies to improve operations.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and facilitate discussions in committees and working groups.

Pay Rate: $71,800.00 per year
