Description:
ProSource360 is seeking a Biomedical Technician / Equipment Support Specialist Level II to provide technical and professional support to the Biomedical Engineering department at MEDVAMC. The successful candidate will Independently be able to repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment, instrumentation, and support systems of moderate complexity used in healthcare delivery. The BMETII will provide interim Biomedical Engineering services either onsite at the MEDVAMC or remotely at the outpatient clinics. In addition, support services should provide interim Biomedical Engineering services to successfully prepare for and deploy the Cerner EHR, as well as integrate/interface medical devices and clinical systems to the Cerner EHR. These activities would be required during any of the following project phases: the Current State Review (CSR), Integration Validation, Post Integration Validation (including issue resolution), Go-Live, and Post Go-Live.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Site Preparation
· Assemble and install new medical equipment and systems, including software and hardware components.
· Conduct system integration and connectivity testing.
· Support site preparation activities, collaborating with architects, engineers, vendors, and clinicians.
· Participate in all meetings and communications associated with installation planning and execution.
Incoming Inspection & Acceptance Testing
· Perform functional testing, user acceptance testing, and formal acceptance procedures for owned, rental, loaner, and demo equipment.
· Conduct initial and safety inspections prior to clinical use.
· Develop and assign operations and maintenance strategies, including creating O&M plans, SOPs, and equipment records.
Security & Network Integration
· Execute pre-implementation security tasks, including VA Directive 6550 compliance.
· Configure network isolation, ACLs, and VLAN assignments for network-attached medical devices.
· Work with IT and security teams to ensure physical and logical security standards are met.
Planned Maintenance
· Perform routine, scheduled maintenance on medical devices and systems including servers and networked systems.
· Execute tasks such as calibration, cleaning, lubrication, safety inspections, and component replacements.
· Conduct infrastructure resiliency and fault tolerance testing.
· Electrical Safety & Performance Verification
· Conduct electrical safety evaluations per VA and NFPA 99 standards.
· Verify system performance against manufacturer and regulatory specifications.
System Protection & IT Coordination
· Install and update operating systems, antivirus/malware protection, and related software.
· Assess data backup processes, failover testing, and ACL updates.
· Prepare IT requests for MDIA, network jacks, VLANs, and software patches.
· Coordinate with facility, VISN, vendors, and IT teams on all security and connectivity tasks.
Corrective Maintenance Responsibilities:
· General Repairs
· Troubleshoot and repair medical equipment failures to restore operational safety and performance.
· Source and install replacement parts, document and complete repairs.
· Manage logistics for intra-facility equipment movement and part acquisition.
· Software Repairs
· Identify and resolve software-related issues including re-imaging, patching, and system reloads.
· Perform incidental hardware tasks as necessary to support software restoration.
