The Controller role involves overseeing the financial operations and reporting intermediate level accounting, management reporting and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards in a healthcare environment. The Controller must have demonstrated knowledge of medical insurance billing, reimbursement processes, financial analysis. BioTAB would prefer experience in the medical device industry. The company currently operates its day to day accounting in cash and the controller will play a key role in separate accrual accounting reporting and related analysis and teaching/communication.

This role will carry out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct while acting in the best interest of BioTAB Healthcare’s growth, and will fully support our diverse workforce by upholding our mission, vision and values.  This role, reporting to our CFO, will include management of both people and processes, with an emphasis on process execution and quality control.

This role is on site at BioTAB Healthcare HQ, located in the Westport area of St. Louis. 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management:
Maintain accrual accounting up to date with analysis. Supervises state and federal taxes, monthly reconciliation and reporting. Oversee the company's accounting functions, including financial statement preparation, general ledger maintenance, and accounts payable/receivable. Prepare monthly and annual financial reviews, budgets, and any necessary state financial reports.

Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, financial standards, and internal policies. Prepares year end reconciliations and schedules for Review and other regulatory agencies. Assist in monitoring compliance with Medicare regulations. Adhere to all relevant regulations and agency policies regarding patient intake and data management, including but not limited to: CMS and OFCCP guidelines related to our Quality Management System, documentation and process creation and training.

Reporting:
Preparing and analyzing financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, and developing reporting processes as directed by the CFO.

Budgeting and Forecasting:
Continue developing and managing budgets, forecasting financial performance, and analyzing variances.

Team Leadership:
Supervise and train accounting staff, providing guidance and support. Attend required meetings and make recommendations on staffing changes, conduct employee reviews. 

Collaboration:
Working with other departments, such as sales and operations, to support the success of the business. 

Process Improvement:
Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls. 

Essential Skills

Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and other relevant financial systems. 

Attention to detail: To ensure accuracy in patient records and insurance information. 

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make recommendations. 

Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders. 

Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage performance, and resolve issues. 

Excellent organizational and time management skills: To manage a high volume of work and ensure timely processing of information. 

Knowledge of healthcare regulations and insurance processes: To navigate the complexities of DME accounting, collections and insurance company and Medicare/Medicaid audits.

Problem-solving skills: To address any issues or challenges that may arise during the intake process. 

Experience:

Preferred - 3 years of public accounting experience

Preferred - 5 years of accounting experience in a health care environment

Must Have

  1. Medical or insurance experience
  2. Prior Leadership with internal staff
  3. Prior experience with AR, Data Analytics, Demand Planning, external banks, outside accounts and major supplies
