https://www.geology.pitt.edu/?invites applications for a Research Associate Professor position.? We are seeking a talented and creative research scientist to teach classes in Structural Geology, Planetary Geology, and GIS, and conduct research on the evolution of orogenic systems.???

This appointment will work closely with the Pitt Tectonics research group of Professor Nadine McQuarrie, studying the geometry, kinematic evolution, exhumation, and topographic development of both compressional and extensional orogenic systems. The research focus of the Tectonics group at the University of Pittsburgh is examining the geometric, kinematic, and erosional evolution of compressional mountain belts and extensional systems. Current research activities focus on linking the geometry and kinematics of mapped structures to thermochronometer cooling ages to look at the interplay between tectonics and erosion on exhumation patterns and morphology of mountain ranges.??A Ph.D. in Geoscience with a focus on tectonics and/or structural geology is required.???

This is a 3-year term appointment, with the possibility of renewal annually, and is in the non-tenured appointment stream with promotion potential.?? The start date is January 5, 2026.?

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating excellent teamwork, organizational, and communication skills, and who are excited to join a highly collaborative environment.??This role is designated as on-site and requires incumbents to report to work at the University of Pittsburgh. The position requires moderate standing, walking, lifting, and computer-based tasks.?
