Overview

Berkeley Research Group, a global strategic advisory and expert consulting firm, is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join the Firm’s dynamic and highly experienced legal team. BRG’s legal team works closely with senior management, practice leadership, and consultants across the Firm in support of business operations. The Associate General Counsel will report to the General Counsel, located in Washington, DC and the Deputy General Counsel, located in Chicago, IL and will support the Firm from a commercial operations perspective, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, such as letters of engagement and non-disclosure agreements.

Experience: 3-6 years of general commercial contracting and negotiating experience is required.

Compensation: $150,000 to $200,000 per year. .

Location: Chicago, IL, New York, NY, or Washington, DC. This is a hybrid position, with a 3 day a week in office requirement.

Bar Admission: Member in good standing of at least one state bar.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements, including letters of engagement, Master Services Agreements, licensing and other vendor agreements, IT and subscription agreements, BAAs, RFP documentation and independent contractor / subcontractor agreements.
  • Ensure that contracts comply with the Firm’s internal guidelines.
  • Provide legal advice to internal clients on a variety of legal, compliance and commercial issues.
  • Assist with internal governance, risk management and compliance programs, including drafting policies and procedures, and participating in training.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education and Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor with strong academic credentials.
  • Licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one state.

Required Experience:

  • 3-6 years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm and/or corporate legal department.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts, including engagement letters, Master Service Agreements, vendor agreements and RFP responses.

Preferred Experience:

  • Ability to counsel and confer directly with internal clients and to engage directly with third parties.
  • Commercial negotiating skills.
  • Acclimated to working in a demanding and fast paced environment, and adept at working with strong personalities.
