The Office of Undergraduate Admission (OUA) at Villanova University is hiring temporary Remote Seasonal Readers to assist with our holistic review of first-year applications for the 2025-2026 year. These individuals will assist with thoroughly and efficiently reading portions of an application to support the mission of the University, inspired by our values of Truth, Unity and Love.

Seasonal Readers are tasked with independently assessing sections of assigned first-year applications during peak reading season (mid to late October to early March). Readers are expected to review credentials carefully and thoughtfully, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism regarding personal information and sensitive matters disclosed. Readers are expected to commit to reading a minimum number of designated files per hour/week.

Readers are required to participate in training (time will be compensated at $22 per hour). Training will comprise a minimum of 3 to 5 hours and at least one to three sessions depending on mastery of material, at some point October during regular weekday office hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST). Readers are expected to meet with their designated OUA leader during regular office hours for weekly check-ins. Both training and reading will be conducted remotely, therefore Seasonal Readers must own a personal computer with high-speed internet. The Office of Undergraduate Admission reserves the right to dismiss readers should files not be read in a timely manner and/or there are inaccuracies with assessments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • On a weekly basis carefully, efficiently, and objectively review assigned first-year applications (up to 100-125 a week during peak season, no more than 25 hours a week) to meet weekly quotas and key deadlines;
  • ?Participate in a rigorous and detailed training session(s), approximately 3 to 5 hours in October; and
  • Regularly meet/communicate with their OUA leader.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Must own a personal computer (preferably from within the last five years) with stable and secure high-speed internet access;
  • Be a strong, self-motivated reader, possessing keen attention to detail, with the ability to work independently to meet weekly requirements of file reading volume;
  • Successful completion of background checks;
  • Candidates may not currently be working directly with high school students (i.e. as high school teachers, school counselors or independent consultants), be employed at another undergraduate institution in admissions or be a parent/guardian of a high school senior applying to Villanova.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidates who have worked in an admission office (ideally selective and holistic) or have been a teacher/professor or school counselor;
  • Prior experience working/volunteering with community-based organizations;
  • Experience with enrollment management software such as Slate.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Schedule is set by individual readers, but must be available at some point during the week to meet with assigned OUA staff member during regular office hours.
