Qualifications



RS&H is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer for full time employment in our Glen Allen, Virginia office!

 

 

The successful candidate functions as a professional engineering discipline lead on conventional projects and may serve as a Project Manager on small to moderate scope multidiscipline projects with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to the candidate’s discipline field. Successful candidate works under the supervision of a professional engineer in meeting project contractual and quality control requirements on transportation projects primarily for state and local governments in Virginia and the southeast. 

 

Successful candidates will lead the development of construction plans, right of way plans, cost estimates, bid documents, various calculations, and quantity takeoffs. Successful candidate may serve as Project Manager or Task Manager for multiple projects and direct technicians, engineers and project staff. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET accreddited program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience. 
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Virginia or the ability to obtain this licensure thru reciprocity within 3 months of hire. 
  • Proficient in production software and construction document production.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A working knowledge of 1+ of the following software platforms:Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenRoads ,AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HCS, SYNCHRO, Primavera P6.
  • Experience leading small design related teams and candidates who exceed 5+ years of experience.
  • Prior experience with responsible charge duties for design and prior BD/managerial responsibilities.

Special Requirements 

  • A valid Virginia driver’s license or the ability to obtain the license within one month of hire is required.
  • A driver’s license records check, criminal history records check, and a fingerprint check are required.
  • Successful candidates may be required to travel and perform physical duties associated with field assignments as needed.
