JOB DESCRIPTION
BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as a Technical Specialist 1, Technical Specialist 2 or Sr Technical Specialist at our White Oaks general office building in Bridgeport, WV.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Pipeline Integrity Engineering Technical Specialist, you will be involved in both Pipeline Integrity and Corrosion responsibilities.
• In this position you will primarily support integrity projects, Integrity Management Plans, Risk Ranking Plans, Integrity Standards and Procedures, and Corrosion Control Policies / Procedures.
• Evaluate, analyze, and recommend techniques and new technologies to provide effective pipeline integrity programs that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and BHE GT&S's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Database administration as needed (specifically Task Op, Visions, Oracle Web Center Content, Sharepoint, CPDM)
In addition to the responsibilities outlined above and more specifically, The Pipeline Integrity Technical Specialist will:
• Support the in-line inspection program on runs, excavation projects, and data analysis.
• Support various integrity and compliance projects (e.g. pressure tests, guided wave analysis, direct assessments, navigable waterway dive inspections, etc.).
• Participate in and complete compressor station, facility, and site reviews to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
• Review industry best practices and recommend applications for GT&S's system.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and design support for regulated departments.
• Develop work procedure training for integrity assessment tasks.
• Establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by meeting customer needs and pursuing continuous improvement.
• Support compliance programs and make system recommendations.
• Input and/or quality check data from corrosion systems going to risk models.
• Support the atmospheric corrosion review program.
• Support projects involving direct assessments for external corrosion, internal corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking
• Support the development, design, analyze, evaluate, and recommend corrosion control systems, policies, and procedures, to mitigate adverse effects on natural gas transmission.
• Support overall corporate compliance programs and databases
• Support direct assessments for external corrosion, internal corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking
• Perform difficult and complex work requiring a thorough knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within functional assignment area.
• Schedule and coordinate major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.
• Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation selection adaptation and modification of standard techniques procedures and criteria.
• Devise new approaches to problems encountered and develop engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards.
• At high levels of proficiency within this classification incumbents are expected to provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed.
• Participate in industry recognized organizations, conferences, and associations.
• Successfully complete leading industry training classes and obtain qualification and certifications
• Performs difficult and complex work requiring strong technical skills and significant knowledge and experience within the functional area or specific engineering discipline.
• Provides expert technical support, direction, and advice in analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment, and programs.
• Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops engineering or other field specific criteria, ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards.
• Implements technology within an engineering or other specific field, as required.
• Focuses on the practical application of engineering theories, quality system standards, or acceptable business practices.
• Able to read and understand drawings, maps and diagrams to perform necessary job functions.
• Applies quality system controls/standards, scientific and/or engineering principles and methods, along with technical skills, to support compliance activities.
• May perform product improvement, testing, field engineering, development, manufacturing construction systems development, quality control, and operational engineering.
• May perform some design and theoretical work, even if does not possess the educational background to function as an engineer.
• May perform the same work as titled Engineers, but possesses an engineering degree which is not ABET accredited.
• May provide technical project management, including scoping, scheduling, budget development, cost tracking, and oversight of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.
