Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept
The School of Business is AACSB-accredited, has a strong commitment to both research and teaching, and serves over 3,400 students. In 2022, Portland State University was ranked #41 by U.S. News and World Report in terms of the “most innovative” universities in the nation. The university is dispersed over 49 acres of greenspace amidst the cultural and business center of downtown Portland. Portland is a thriving city of natural beauty considered to be a model for livability, environmental stewardship, and new urbanism principles. Portland is located within a 90-minute drive of mountains and the Oregon coast.
Position Summary
The SB’s Center for Retail encompasses certificates, programs, research, and events that span the marketing, supply chain, analytics, and human capital aspects of retail organizations across Food & Beverage. Leading the School of Business’s Center for Retail, Executive Director responsibilities for this position include oversight of center-related strategy, certificates, program development, marketing, recruiting, admissions, student advising, connecting pertinent faculty research and key industry constituents, and engaging in community outreach as the public representative of the Center and its offerings. As appropriate, the Executive Director role may also include involvement in accreditation and Assurance of Learning management. The Executive Director will report directly to the Dean, but in the position’s capacity also works collaboratively with all faculty and staff, the Associate Deans of Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, the Associate Dean of Faculty & Research and the Assistant Dean of Student Success. Position is renewable contingent upon available funding.
Minimum Qualifications
• BA or BS degree (or equivalent) or higher.
• Five or more years of business-related work experience required.
• Two or more years of industry experience working with regional retail-related entities.
• High level of demonstrated organizational, leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position is $94,524 at 1.0 FTE (pay is $47,262 at 0.5 FTE) but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
