Summary:
Under limited supervision, responsible for business partnering, providing decision support and insightful guidance, and completing complex financial modeling, forecasting and analysis including but not limited to the areas of budgeting, staffing and employee/labor relations.
The Senior Financial Analyst has advanced knowledge of the job area and technical systems and practices, and advanced technical skills and reporting abilities.
What you will be doing:
- Analyzes and interprets financial data and metrics to identify impacts, risks, opportunities, trends, variances and other insights.
- Proactively identifies potential data and analytical needs to support management and performance monitoring requirements.
- Collaborates with business partners to understand business priorities and strategic initiatives and develop effective and timely analytic solutions.
- Leads or assists with functional and cross-functional analytical engagements, including the annual financial planning and analysis effort, forecasting various metrics for financial risks and opportunities, and identify variances against budgets.
- Develops and maintains various financial, forecasting and predictive models.
- Compiles, develops and submits complex financial and other reports with written summaries and recommendations to management.
- Collaborates with external and internal stakeholders to maintain the availability, validity and integrity of data sources.
- Maintains appropriate and required data, records, and other operational and regulatory report documentation.
- Supports internal and external audits, and assists in the preparation of recommendations, responses, and reports.
- Identifies and implements process improvements.

Preferred
- Skills in SQL Query development, including but not limited to the ability to create moderately complex SQL queries with demonstrated experience in writing SQL scripts for data discovery, requirements validation, reports, testing and Tableau data connections.
- In-depth knowledge of and ability to effectively use analytical tools (i.e. Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview).
- Knowledge of ability to utilize statistical methods and techniques (predictive modeling, segmentation, regression, etc.).
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and reporting requirements related to State and federally sponsored healthcare programs (i.e., Medi-Cal, Medicaid).
- Knowledge of healthcare and/or Medi-Cal analytics principles, concepts, best practices and performance measures, with the ability to effectively use, implement and maintain them.
- Knowledge of R or Python statistical programing.
