Job Function:

Monroe Community College seeks an Office Clerk II who will be responsible for the independent performance of clerical tasks, requiring a high degree of independent judgment and decision-making. The use of technology is an integral part of the position, and the successful candidate must have excellent skills in using technology to solve problems. The Office Clerk II must have strong interpersonal skills and a sincere desire to assist college staff. The Office Clerk II reports to the Web Team Manager.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities (Training will be provided):

Clerical

  • Remediate documents for ADA compliance in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act
  • Web edits through content management system (no programming knowledge required)
  • Review Tribune articles (MCC daily newsletter) for ADA compliance on a daily basis

Operational support

  • Managing and completing college-wide technology support requests as assigned
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and appropriate staff.
  • Work with faculty and staff by phone, zoom and email regarding web-related questions, accessibility questions, document remediation, etc.
  • Attend webinars / training sessions when asked for professional development for the team for ADA compliance

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must currently hold the Monroe County civil service title of Office Clerk II or be reachable on the current eligible list for this title or meet the below minimum requirements for a provisional or temporary appointment, if offered;
    • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
      • (A) Graduation with an Associate's degree or successful completion of at least sixty (60) credit hours from a college or university; OR,
      • (B) Two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent office clerical or secretarial experience*; OR,
      • (C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above
  • Must be a Monroe County Resident.

*Experience as a Teller, Cashier or Sales Clerk will not be considered appropriate experience for the purposes of these minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with creating PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong interpersonal/communication, presentation, and public relations skills.
  • Ability to operate with multi-cultural sensitivity.
  • Commitment to self-learning emerging technologies and working in a team-based environment with expanding activities and quickly changing technologies.
  • Experience in an educational environment.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently


Additional Information:

*There was an Open-Competitive & Promotional Exam scheduled for this title on: 5/3/2025. The successful candidate will be hired temporarily until the Certified List is established.

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 8:45am - 4:45pm, M-F

Salary: $39,797.72 per year. Eligible for an increment increase at 6 months.
