At NAS Oceana located at Virginia Beach, VA, SA-TECH supports the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) that covers the development, integration, management and support of an integrated program to enable a continuous, multi-domain, Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) training platform across multiple physical training locations. Together with our partners, SA-TECH is helping integrate the Navy Combined Tactical Training Range (NCTTR) and the Southern California Offshore Range (SCORE) into the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) environment.
SA-TECH is currently looking to hire a TCTS Engineering Technician IV at NAS Oceana (Virginia Beach, VA) to support responsibilities of Tactical Combat Training Systems (TCTS) Operations, in accordance with all applicable directives and plans, and to meet all contract requirements. This position reports to the TCTS C4I Maintenance Manager.
Specific duties include (but are not limited to):
- Operate, maintain, and be able to troubleshoot the Tactical Combat Training System (TCTS) components comprised of Live Monitor (LM)/Mission Line-Up (MLU)/Firewall (FW)/Electronic Warfare Server (EWS)/Electronic Warfare Multiplexor (EW-MUX)/Radar Acquisition Display System (RADS)/Joint Debriefing Subsystem (JDS)/Personal Combat Display System (PCDS)/Individual Combat Aircrew Display System (ICADS), Joint Anti-Air Modeling (JAAM) Link-16 Inject-To-Live (LITL) equipment, and associated displays and computer applications used for aircraft tracking displays and debriefs.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
- Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM)/Corrective Maintenance (CM) on assigned equipment with supervision.
- Perform organizational- and intermediate-level maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Verify operability after maintenance actions.
- Document all maintenance actions and isolate malfunctions.
- Incorporate approved system patches, upgrades and engineering changes as required.
- Maintain computers in accordance with PM schedule and Work Instruction (WIs), as directed by manufacturers’ manuals.
- Assist the TCTS Operator V on TCTS workstations by installing and configuring approved software/hardware.
- Perform software backups.
- Utilize JDS and UNIX utilities to ensure system security and data integrity.
- Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of computer OS diagnostics and routine operations.
- Perform routine troubleshooting tasks, isolate malfunctions, repair to the discrete component-level if necessary, and incorporate approved engineering changes with assistance.
- Assist Mission Coordinator/RTOs and perform MLU functions when necessary.
- Work may be reviewed by Operations Supervisor for compliance with accepted practices.
- Receive pre-mission data from squadrons using Tactical Training Range (TTR) and inputs into Mission Lineup Unit (MLU).
- Inform Mission Coordinator and /or squadron Range Training Officer (RTO) when data is not received in a timely manner.
- Verify all information received from the squadron is correct and is accurately reflected on the JDS.
- Oversees mission support, from mission scenario development to live operational support to post-mission debrief and evaluation.
- Cross-trained and qualified to operate TCTS/ITL system.
- Ability to build scenarios for L-16 Inject-to-Live missions.
- Ability to perform intermediate-level troubleshooting of the Link Inject-to-Live hardware/software.
- Responsible for quality of contractor range functions to include operations, scheduling, technical library, security, training, safety, supply, quality assurance, configuration management, and documentation.
- Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 50 pounds.
- Constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness.
- Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Formal classroom education equivalent to NAVY “C” School or vocational school with formal training in the field of electronic equipment maintenance and equipment manufacturer training.
- Three (3) years of experience with computer/electronic systems maintenance in the four of the following areas:
- Digital/analog signal processing
- Video/audio signal processing and recording
- Communications (Network/multiplexer equipment, routers, fiber-optic, data encryption equipment)
- Digital computer systems
- Audio/Video systems
- Three (3) years of experience with computer systems analysis (hardware/software), computer programming, and LAN support (including server and workstations).
- Linux Operating System (OS) and network administration experience.
- Microsoft Windows (OS) and network administration experience.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Must have CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Must have formal Linux Operating Sys+ (OS) or Microsoft Windows (OS) training.
- Must be operationally qualified at designated tech level within 180 days and maintenance qualified within one (1) year of hiring.
- Maintain CPR/AED certification.
- Valid State Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
- U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
- May be required to be TS/SCI-eligible.
- All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
