Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.

GMC has an opening for Architectural Design Associate II to support on-going projects in the Charlotte NC office. The Architectural Associate is capable of independently performing a variety of assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of professional practice for projects of moderate size and complexity. The ideal candidate provides support to the lead architect in the design, selection, coordination, and detailing of architectural materials and systems.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

  • Involved with conceptual design, planning, programming, and similar activities where she has developed relevant skills
  • Acquires basic knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area
  • Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks
  • Exercises limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work
  • Acquires and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
  • Visits sites to prepare as-built drawings of existing buildings
  • Prepares construction document drawings in CAD or Revit
  • May also be involved in Client and Contractor communications
  • Assists on other tasks such as preparation of permit applications and project manuals
  • Coordinates with engineering consultants on assigned projects
  • Engaged in field work associated with their projects
  • Responds to contractors RFIs and communications during construction
  • Review shop drawings for conformance with construction documents

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 - 5 five years of architecture design experience
  • Competence in conventional aspects of the design practice
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited architectural program
  • Proficient in REVIT
  • Actively working towards licensure
  • Previous architectural experience preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to perform work-related travel and have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be local to GMC office
