Description:

Maps Credit Union seeks an outgoing and self-motivated bilingual (English/Spanish) Consumer Loan Consultant to join our dedicated team in the Outbound Lending department. Located on-site at our Woodburn Branch, this position develops and enhances relationships by offering a full range of loan products and services to existing and potential new members. The Consumer Loan Consultant drives the consumer loan process from sales and sourcing to application and closing.


*Please note: This position will train for 3 months at our Maps Professional Center located in Salem, Oregon. Once training is completed, this position will be based at the Woodburn Branch.


Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


· Contact members and prospects to determine loan needs and refer other credit union products and services. Interview applicants and evaluate financial and personal data in order to counsel and recommend appropriate lending products.


· Manage time and productivity to prioritize personal sales activities and achieve business goals. Collaborate with internal partners to uncover sales opportunities. Maintain comprehensive sales data and documentation on all leads pursued.


· Provide superior communication and customer service with applicants to facilitate timely closings. Manage borrower expectations and establish trust, resulting in repeat business and loan referrals.


· Prepare loan documents for loan closing and submit applications to underwriting for approval. Ensure all regulatory disclosures provided to applicants are in timely compliance. Disburse loan proceeds after approval by the underwriter.


· Maintain thorough knowledge of consumer lending policies and procedures to accurately respond to member requests.

Requirements:

1. A minimum of two years of experience in customer service, business development, and direct and indirect selling roles, or the equivalent combination of training and experience.


2. A minimum of two years of similar or related experience in the financial industry with an emphasis in lending is preferred.


3. Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.


4. High School diploma or equivalent; successful completion of high school-level mathematics in order to calculate figures and amounts.


5. Requires availability to work Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM with occasional Saturdays or extended hours.


6. Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license.


7. Must be bondable.


8. Must meet the minimum standards set by SAFE and any applicable state laws if performing the duties of an MLO. These minimum standards include but are not limited to: (1) never having the employee's loan originator license revoked in any governmental jurisdiction, and (2) not having been convicted of nor pled guilty or nolo contendere to a felony in a domestic, foreign, or military court (a) during the seven-year period preceding the date of application for licensing and registration, or (b) at any time preceding such date of application if such felony involved an act of fraud, act of dishonesty, a breach of trust, or money laundering.


9. If performing the duties of an MLO, must be eligible to renew and must maintain registration with the Registry or the applicable state agency.


Compensation: Base hourly pay plus commission, with a one-year ramp-up period to build a book of business. During the ramp-up period, the hourly rate is $26.00 per hour, plus a .50/hour bilingual differential.
