The starting pay for this role is $20.79/hour.

About the role:

Balances and maintains various general ledger accounts and subsidiaries to ensure the accounts are in balance with the appropriate control totals as well as maintains required accounting documentation and support. Analyzes and tracks data related to products and services offered through the credit union as well as prepares internal financial reports. Consistently demonstrates and performs up to the standards of the Pen Air Credit Union core competencies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Balances various general ledger accounts and accounting applications such as but not limited to the following: Morning Work, Suspense Accounts, Corporate Statements, ATM/PTM's, Warranties, GAPS, Indirect GAPS PSCU MC Daily Settlements, Shared Branching, Return Cash Letters and Check 21.
  • Compiles information prepares various weekly and monthly required reports and ensures accurate and timely delivery of reports to the appropriate department. Monitors, maintains and balances assigned weekly and monthly General Ledger accounts, prepare reconciliations, notify appropriate individuals of discrepancies as necessary to make corrections.
  • Responsible for placing the orders for the cash order and coin deposits. Transmitting weekly Reg D Reports, monthly Ca$hlink as well as post vouchers from other departments/vendors such as: HR, Electronic Services and PHH.
  • Address disputes/adjustments related to various applications such as ATM/PTM's, Shared Branching and Check Disputes. ACH and Share Drafts. Handles returned checks drawn on other financial institutions, employee payroll, cafeteria, accounts payable and bill
  • Properly scans department documentation to ensure accuracy and future reference to information.
  • Remain informed on the rules/regulations and policy changes for the following: OFAC, BSA/MLA, and the Patriot Act, NCUA, NACHA, Federal Reserve, ATM Networks, GAAP, etc.
  • Assist with audit related issues, credit union and departmental projects.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or  job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program. 
  • A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically, it includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

Other Skills:

  • Able to operate a 10-key calculator by touch. 
  • Knowledge and efficiency of how to use PC and spreadsheet software.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable with accounting terms and processes.
