The Artificial Perception & Threat Awareness (APTA) division at SARA is making the future of Aerospace and Autonomy happen now, with a charter to create new and emerging sensor perception technologies for Commercial & Military markets. Our innovative technologies include RF, optical and acoustic sensors enabled with innovative embedded algorithms, machine learning and robust networking. APTA is looking for a motivated Electromechanical Assembly and Test Technician to support our activities in Cypress, CA.
Core Responsibilities:
- Apply necessary skills and technique for assembly of devices with rigorous QA standards
- Work in an ESD controlled environment
- Assembly of electronics and wire harnesses
- Soldering of wire harnesses and PCBs
- Read blueprints/schematics/diagrams and follow step-by-step assembly instructions
- Read specifications, research, and resolve issues as requested
- Test parts and assemblies using measuring devices and diagnostic tools
- Prepare, conduct, and document tests
- Discrepancy reporting
- Work with the team to construct, maintain, and test electrical and mechanical systems, components, equipment, etc.
- Interact with Engineering team to report issues or improvements to the process
- Manage inventory, shipping/receiving duties (approximately 20% of the time)
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned
Requirements:
- 2 – 3 years of experience assembling electronic devices and wire harnesses
- 2 – 3 years of experience testing electronics using oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
- High School Diploma
- Attention to Detail
- Skilled at utilizing common hand tools
- Self-starter with strong work ethic who can troubleshoot and work independently with minimal direction
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, procurement software, etc.)
- Proficient soldering skills
- Willing to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods of time
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
- May require moderate physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 30 pounds
- Working environment is indoor, moderately quiet, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated, moderate physical hazards may exist
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 – 5 years of experience assembling electronic devices and wire harnesses
- 3 – 5 years of experience testing electronics using oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
- 1 – 2 years of machine shop experience operating mills, lathes, etc.
- 1 – 2 years of experience working in an ESD-controlled environment
- Soldering certification
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Bills of Material (BOMs) and MRP System to include:
- Create purchase requisitions and track material lead times
- Perform inspection of all incoming material
- Document proof of receipt in MRP System and scan all packing slips and certification documents
- Experience with parts inventory and equipment handling such as:
- Receive items into inventory
- Perform regular inventory counts
- Maintain the inventory area
- Clean, organize, and label per our quality standards
- Part cleaning and kitting prior to technician assembly
- Load and stage kitted parts with attention to detail
- Package and ship sensitive equipment as requested

Pay Range
Salary at SARA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $29 to $39 (hourly USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of SARA’s total compensation package for employees. Positions are on-site, unless indicated otherwise.
