Position Overview:

Manage mechanical construction projects through effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, material procurement, and forecasting of costs and profitability.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Estimate and negotiate change orders.
  2. Track quantities for productivity forecasting.
  3. Buyout major equipment and subcontracts.
  4. Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment/materials.
  5. Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope and specifications of project contract/subcontract.
  6. Maintain and control documents in compliance with UMC Standards as well as contractual compliance.
  7. Develop and submit RFI’s with project management oversight.
  8. Collaborate with field labor supervision to plan, organize and schedule project work including preparation of subcontract/contract integrated project schedule.
  9. Review contract drawings, detail drawings and specifications.
  10. Participate in and follow the AIM processes as may be required for a project.
  11. Ensure full compliance with UMC Safety Program at the jobsite and attend all safety meetings.
  12. Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee's essential job functions.


Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the bid process and the procurement of new work.
  2. Provide customer service/ maintain client relations and collaborate with other contractors.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to accurately estimate mechanical work.
  • Ability to lead and foster a positive working environment.
  • Ability to understand and communicate basic mechanical concepts.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail – errors & mistakes can result in significant financial losses.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong work ethic – results driven.
  • Ability to multi-task job responsibilities.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project, Access, and AutoCAD, Front Desk, Blue Beam, Smartsheet, and Viewpoint.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Construction Management, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering degree desired.


Required Licensing and Other Certifications:

  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
