Overview
The Senior Grants/Contracts Coordinator provides high-level oversight and coordination of complex grant and contract applications, ensuring alignment with OHSU institutional policies and sponsor requirements. Evaluates the scope, complexity, and strategic impact of each submission to determine necessary resources, training, and stakeholder engagement. Coordination includes Pre-Award and/or Post-Award activities.
This is the second level of a three level series. It is distinguished from the Grants/Contracts Coordinator by a minimal level of direct supervision and a higher-level decision making. This position has a broader scope of responsibility, including the independent preparation of proposals, a higher level of financial independence, knowledge of OHSU policies, oversight, and coordination of complex high-stake proposals (T32, U54, SPORE, P50, T90, etc.), and negotiation skills. Employees at this level operate with a high degree of independence; provide mentorship and training for less experienced Grants/Contracts Coordinator positions.
This position is part of a Sponsored Project Administration & Finance Shared Service team (SAT). SAT groups provide support to a combination of OHSU programs, departments, and institutes. The SAT groups provide comprehensive sponsored project administrative and financial management for the primary appointed faculty’s grants, contracts, clinical trials, and sponsored project programs. The Senior Grant and Contract Coordinator offers professional guidance to faculty, staff, and external partners on grant and contract processes, ensuring compliance with legal, financial, and institutional requirements. They manage a wide range of funding mechanisms, including NIH R01s, U-series, DOD, NSF, training and center grants, clinical trials, and foundation awards. This position involves minimal supervision and requires a high degree of independence, initiative, and problem-solving, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the shared services team.
