Job Description: Financial Analyst



Location: Hybrid


Department: Finance


Reports to: Director, Financial Planning and Analysis


Exemption Status: Exempt



Job Summary:

The Financial Analyst works closely with the finance team to support financial planning, reporting and decision-making processes on behalf of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), the ABP Foundation (ABPF) and ABP Collaborations LLC (ABPC). The financial analyst must possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of financial concepts to support our financial planning and analysis activities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Support the development and maintenance of ABP’s financial forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range planning by analyzing trends, historical data, and market conditions.

· Assist in updating and validating financial models, reports, and planning tools, ensuring alignment with ABP’s General Ledger and financial systems.

· Collaborate with budget administrators and cross-functional teams to create realistic budgets, improve the budgeting process, and provide variance analysis.

· Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and design reporting solutions to enhance transparency and support decision-making.

· Participate in financial system integrations and testing to ensure accurate, timely reporting and streamlined processes.

· Track and report on capital projects and investment activity, ensuring timely reconciliation, budget adherence, and appropriate asset capitalization.

· Prepare materials and financial reports for the Board of Directors and relevant committees, including key financial data, tables, and/or graphs that highlight trends and progress to date.

· Contribute to the documentation and continuous improvement of budgeting and forecasting policies, procedures, and systems.

· None

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics

· 3+ years in financial analysis or a similar role

· Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting tools


Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with Planful, Intacct, bill.com, ADP, and Salesforce software

· Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

· Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license preferred

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


The setting for this role will include office settings. Exposure to controlled temperature environments, both hot and cold, is to be expected.
