Responsibilities

Provides complex and diversified administrative office support to Pathology services at all Legacy sites. Responsibilities include medical transcription, preparing and maintaining staff schedules, quality assurance, meeting minutes, composing complex legal and medical correspondence, arranging autopsies, maintaining pathology files and coordinating activity for legal cases. Work is performed independently requiring judgment and problem-solving skills under limited supervision. May assist with orientation of new personnel. May act as a resource person for employees regarding staffing.



Qualifications

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a Medical Transcription course or equivalent (2 years) Medical transcription experience.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Three years in an administrative support role in a healthcare setting requiring judgment and performance of a wide range of secretarial and/or administrative functions.

Transcription experience and medical terminology.

 

SKILLS:

Advanced word processing skills.

Typing > 80 WPM.

Ability to organize and work independently.

Working knowledge and ability to create procedures and forms using computer software programs.

Ability to transcribe detailed specialist reports, forms and correspondence including the use of technical and medical terminology from longhand or dictation.

Familiarity with Millennium/VXP software preferred.

Ability to edit documents and reports for grammar and punctuation.

Ability to work with all levels of staff and leadership.

Strong team and customer service orientation.
