Description:

This position supports FERNO's Global CAD Program and FERNO's Engineering Department in Wilmington, OH. FERNO designs and manufactures emergency pre-hospital patient handling products. The primary responsibilities of this position are to administer the CAD systems for nine global sites using SolidWorks CAD/CAM and PDM platforms and to assist the engineering and manufacturing staff with solid modeling and drawing related activities.


As a CAD Administrator, you will work closely with cross functional global team members responsible for various portions of product development, product sustainment, quality assurance and manufacturing activities to ensure onboarding, maintenance, troubleshooting, and general CAD administration within the SolidWorks CAD/CAM and PDM platforms. You will work with functional Information Technology leaders internal to FERNO Global, value-added resellers, contract engineering firms, contract manufacturers field service providers as required



Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to work with Global IT liaisons to ensure new employee onboarding, maintenance, and troubleshooting; host executable files on collaborative drives as necessary; add/remove/modify permission levels as needed
  • Mange FERNO's Global PDM Vault and basic understanding of hardware and software compatibility requirements to do so
  • Manage and proactively improve workflows, tested first at FERNO Wilmington and then rolled out to global entities
  • Assist IT with annual software upgrades globally
  • Interface compatibilities between SolidWorks and Altium Designer and SolidWorks PDM and ERP systems
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule across multiple international time zones as needed, including occasional evening and weekend work
  • Assist other team members as necessary on platforms such as CAMWorks, DraftSight and SolidWorks Composer
  • Manage part number creation, model and drawing review, and system permission processes for FERNO Wilmington; assist with file structuring and rollback if necessary
  • Ability to solid model component parts and assemblies and structure BOMs,
  • Create and revise component drawings and assembly drawings containing 500 components or more
  • Create representative models as requested by external partners such as ambulance builders
  • Create CAD renderings as requested by marketing personnel
  • Manage medical device data and systems in compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDD 93/42/EEC and MDR
  • Participate in Engineering Change Order and/or Phase-Gate processes for assigned programs to include QMS compliance

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical
  • Education in other disciplines considered
  • Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience with SolidWorks; CSWE preferred and SolidWorks PDM; CPAP preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Job demands include prolonged sitting, may need to stoop, bend and stand as appropriate
  • Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot
  • Meets cognitive demands to include visual discrimination/memory, auditory discrimination/memory reading ability, independent decision making and retention of specific knowledge.
  • Requires use of safety glasses in designated areas
  • Ability to travel less than 5%
