Physical Requirements
Moving and lifting object from floor to above shoulders up to 25 pounds. Standing and sitting at computer terminals and laboratory bench completing repetitive tasks for extensive periods of time. Continuous working with materials requiring personal protective equipment in accord with EH&S policy.
Shift
Primarily Days Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, some evenings and weekends may be required due to experimentation.
Job Summary
A postdoctoral scholar position is available in Dr. Xu Xiao’s laboratory at the Saha Cardiovascular Research Center, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY. We are seeking a motivated and talented scientist to investigate the roles of intracellular lipid transport pathways in metabolic diseases. Our research focuses on identifying novel lipid transport mechanisms, understanding their cellular functions, and developing strategies to regulate lipid homeostasis for disease prevention and treatment.

We welcome applicants with a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. While experience in metabolic disease research is preferred, exceptional candidates from related fields will be considered. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Xiao to explore how intracellular lipid transporters impact fatty liver disease and other metabolic disorders. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments within an interdisciplinary team, analyzing data, and presenting findings. Expertise in cell culture, biochemical and molecular biology techniques, immunohistochemistry, and small animal models is desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills, independence, and the ability to collaborate effectively are essential.

The position offers a minimum salary of $54,000 per year, commensurate with experience, along with the benefits of Lexington’s affordable cost of living and strong school districts.
