POSITION: Maintenance Technician

LOCATION: Jupiter/Stuart FL.

STATUS: Hourly Non-Exempt 

 

JOB SUMMARY 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in equipment set-up and specification of tools and fixtures 
  • Ensure EHS and Quality compliance of the equipment specifications 
  • Perform risk assessments for the work cells in co-operation with Supervisor and EHS responsible 
  • Protocol and follow-up on preliminary and final acceptance tests for all workshop equipment in cooperation with Engineering and Purchasing 
  • Follow up on warranty issues together with Purchasing 
  • Train staff in the use of specific equipment, tools or fixtures 
  • Ensure EHS markings on equipment and tools are properly applied based on requirements 
  • Set-up and maintain all preventive maintenance and calibration needs in data base in co-operation with Quality 
  • Organize all maintenance needed in co-operation with Cell Leads, Supervisors 
  • Set-up and maintain consumable needs for each machine including stock quantities and supply needs in co-operation with cell leads and purchasing 
  • Monitor equipment availability, plan outage times in co-operation with planning 
  • Participate in evaluations of new equipment to improve production performance 
  • Participation in process improvement and cost reduction projects and implementing resulting actions 
  • Provide instructions to production employees in concert with the assigned responsibilities. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

Education & Training

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 
  • Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix

 

Skills/Experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in installation, repair and maintenance of small and large workshop equipment, tools and fixtures 
  • 5+ years of experience in troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions 
  • 5+ years of experience in setting up equipment specifications and acceptance testing procedures 
  • 5+ years of experience in generating operational procedures for workshop equipment 
  • 5+ years of experience in planning and execution of preventive maintenance programs 
  • 3+ years of experience with risk assessments in production environment 
  • Working knowledge of EHS requirements and regulatory codes for production equipment 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. 
  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. 
  • Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. 
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. 
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time 
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another. 
  • Pushing & Pulling 
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. 
  • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. 
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. 
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. 
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. 
  • Being able to wear required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as respirators, Tyvek suit, gloves, face shield, etc. 
  • May require travel (air & ground) with short notice. 
  • Ability to cooperate and work with people
