Position Description

Goodfellow Bros. (GBI) is a large heavy-civil contractor with operations throughout the West Coast & Hawaii. GBI has always maintained that our employees are our greatest asset, and we are now seeking to add to our team. We are looking for an Administrative Assistant to join our team in Kauai.


Position Summary

We’re looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our Kauai operations through a mix of office coordination and safety-related administrative tasks. This role plays a key part in keeping our regional office running smoothly while supporting field teams with documentation, supplies, and safety processes. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and committed to contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.


Essential Functions

  1. Administrative Support
  2. Greeting and directing visitors and incoming phone calls
  3. Sorting and distributing mail and correspondence
  4. Ordering and managing office supply inventory
  5. Organizing files, plans, and specifications—both paper and digital
  6. Scheduling meetings and supporting internal events
  7. Running errands and traveling to project sites as needed (company vehicle provided)

Safety & Project Support

  1. Tracking and distributing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  2. Assisting with new hire safety orientations and safety documentation
  3. Helping coordinate post-incident protocols (e.g., drug screening, fit tests)
  4. Supporting safety meetings, training events, and compliance tracking
  5. Uploading documentation to HCSS and other internal systems

Work hours are from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, with a 1-hour lunch.

This position offers a salary range of $22 to $25 per hour.

Position Requirements

Required Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without employer sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. 2+ years of administrative experience preferred
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  4. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  5. Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills

Bonus Skills

  1. Experience with construction industry or safety programs
  2. Familiarity with HCSS or similar safety management systems
